Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Finding Eve ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Finding Eve mobile application, website and related services (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. The Service is only for adults aged 18 or older.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number and age when you create an account.
- Profile information: Photos, short profile videos, a voice intro, bio, headline, gender, age, city, interests, values, personality and lifestyle answers, dating preferences, and any social media links you choose to add.
- Sensitive information: Your religion and denomination/sect, and dating preferences that may reveal information about your sex life or sexual orientation. You choose whether to provide these, and you can change or remove them from your profile at any time.
- Authentication data: Information from the sign-in method you choose: Apple, Google, Facebook, or phone number verification by SMS.
- Communications: Messages, voice notes, reactions, gifts, game moves, date plans and other content you send to other members, as well as support conversations, feedback and contact requests you send us.
- Conversations with AI features: What you say or type when you use Eve chat, the onboarding interview, practice or voice conversations, AI-drafted replies, date coaching and other AI-assisted features.
- Verification data: A selfie you take to verify that your profile photos show you. Where we offer identity verification, your ID document and liveness check are collected and processed by our identity verification provider.
- Safety information: Reports and blocks you make or receive, and safety check-ins you schedule (including the time and any location you enter).
- Purchases: Your subscription status and purchase history. Payments are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never receive your card details.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Precise location: If you allow it, the app reads your device's location while you are using it (never in the background) and stores it as coordinates on your profile. When you set or change your city, we also convert it into approximate coordinates.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, app version, and push notification tokens (including the token used to alert you to incoming calls).
- Usage data: How you interact with the Service, such as features used, matches, likes and passes, and timestamps. Some of these events are recorded with your account ID for product analytics.
- Log and diagnostic data: IP address, request logs, and crash and error reports from the app and our servers.
- Call connection data: To connect a voice or video call, your device exchanges network addresses with the other member's device. When a direct connection is not possible, the call is routed through a relay server.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Matching: To suggest matches based on your profile, preferences and location. We use your coordinates to find members near you. Other members see your city and an approximate distance range calculated on a grid of about 1 km, never your exact location.
- Messaging and calls: To deliver your messages, voice notes and calls, and to send you notifications.
- AI features: To power Eve chat, the onboarding interview, practice and voice conversations, voice intros, AI-drafted replies, date coaching, icebreakers, profile writing help, photo ranking and compatibility insights. To generate icebreakers and compatibility insights, relevant parts of both members' profiles are processed. Voice input is converted to text, and text replies may be converted to speech.
- Safety and moderation: To keep the community safe, text you send (such as messages, profile text and community posts) is checked by an automated AI classifier before it is delivered or published. Photos and videos are also screened, and voice notes are transcribed and checked. Content the classifier flags is blocked or held for review. Reports are triaged with AI and reviewed by our team, and repeated or serious reports can lead to a temporary restriction of the reported account. You can ask us for a human review of any automated decision about your account or content.
- Verification: To check that new profile photos show the same person as your verification selfie. An AI vision model compares the two images; we do not create or store a face template.
- Payments: To provide subscriptions and in-app purchases and to keep your premium status in sync with the App Store or Google Play.
- Service operation and security: To authenticate you, prevent fraud and abuse (including banned users re-registering), diagnose crashes and errors, and improve the Service.
- Communications from us: To send service messages and, if you leave them switched on in notification settings, tips and promotions.
2.1 Legal Bases
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: performance of our contract with you to provide the Service, including the AI features you choose to use; your explicit consent for sensitive information (religion and dating preferences), precise device location and verification selfies; our legitimate interests in keeping members safe, moderating content, preventing fraud and ban evasion, securing and improving the Service; and legal obligations where the law requires us to keep or disclose information. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (see section 7).
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only as described below.
3.1 With Other Members
Your profile (including photos, videos, voice intro, age, city, religion and the other details you add) is shown to other members, together with an approximate distance. Messages, voice notes and calls go to the members you send them to. Community posts and success stories you submit may be shown to all members.
3.2 With Service Providers
We use the following service providers to run the Service. Each receives only the data it needs for its task:
- Our cloud server provider: hosting of our application servers, our database (account, profile and message data) and server logs.
- Cloudflare (R2): storage and delivery of photos, videos, voice intros, voice notes and verification selfies.
- MiniMax: AI chat and assistant features, automated moderation of text, photos and videos, selfie-to-photo comparison, text-to-speech, and AI profile and compatibility features.
- Groq and Cartesia: speech-to-text transcription and text-to-speech.
- Google (Firebase): phone number sign-in and SMS verification in the app (including reCAPTCHA or Play Integrity checks), Apple sign-in on the website, and push notifications.
- Twilio: SMS verification codes and relay servers that connect calls when a direct connection is not possible.
- Apple and Google: sign-in (if you choose it), push notifications, and processing of App Store and Google Play purchases.
- Meta (Facebook): sign-in, only if you choose to sign in with Facebook.
- RevenueCat: management of subscriptions and purchase receipts.
- Sentry: crash and error reporting for the app and our servers.
- PostHog: product analytics events linked to your account ID.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: converting a city name into approximate coordinates. Only the city name is sent.
- Stripe Identity or Persona: identity document and liveness verification, only where we offer it and you choose to use it.
These providers process your information on our behalf and under our instructions. We require them by contract to protect it to a standard at least equal to this policy and not to use it for their own purposes.
Our public web pages (including this one) also load fonts from Google Fonts and an icon script from jsDelivr. Your browser connects to them directly, so they can see your IP address and browser details, which they handle under their own privacy policies.
3.3 Other Disclosures
We may disclose information when the law requires it, to respond to valid legal requests, to protect the safety of members or others (for example in child-safety or welfare emergencies), or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
3.4 International Transfers
Some of our service providers process information outside your country of residence, including in the United States and Asia. Where the law requires it, we protect these transfers with appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
- While your account exists: We keep your account, profile, matches and messages for as long as your account is open. Conversations remain available to the other member.
- When you delete your account: Your profile is removed and your account record is anonymized straight away. We erase your name, email address, phone number, bio, location, religion and other profile details; delete your photos, videos, voice intro, voice notes and verification selfie from storage; delete your Eve conversations and memories, device tokens, support messages, community posts and safety check-ins; replace the content of messages you sent with "[deleted]"; and end your matches. Where you used identity verification, we ask the verification provider to delete its record.
- Abuse prevention record: To stop banned or abusive users from re-registering, we keep a limited deletion record (email address, phone number, name, gender, city, sign-in method, verification and subscription status, and a snapshot of your profile answers such as interests, values and religion). After 90 days your email address and phone number are replaced with one-way hashes, and your name, city and profile snapshot are erased. The remaining record is deleted completely after 2 years.
- Safety records: Reports, blocks and bans involving your account are kept after deletion for as long as they are needed to protect members, prevent ban evasion and meet legal obligations.
- Logs, diagnostics and backups: Server logs, crash reports and analytics events are kept only as long as needed for security, troubleshooting and improving the Service. Deleted data may remain in database backups for a limited period until those backups expire.
5. Data Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls and logging of administrative access. Members only ever see an approximate distance, never your exact location. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
6. Children
The Service is only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a member is under 18, please report them in the app or contact us, and we will review the account and remove it if appropriate.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and portability: Download a copy of your data from Settings → Account & privacy → Download My Data in the app, or from the Account page on the website.
- Correction: Edit your profile at any time, or contact us to correct other information.
- Deletion: Delete your account at any time from Settings → Account & privacy in the app, or from the Account page on the website. Section 4 explains what happens to your data.
- Location: Turn off location access for Finding Eve in your device settings at any time. We then stop collecting your device location. Updating the city on your profile replaces stored coordinates with city-level ones, or you can contact us to have them removed.
- Sensitive information: Remove your religion or change your dating preferences on your profile at any time.
- AI features: AI assistant features only run when you use them, and you can stop using them at any time. Automated moderation applies to all content shared through the Service and cannot be switched off, because it protects other members.
- Notifications: Manage push notifications, including promotions, in the app's notification settings or your device settings.
- Other rights: Depending on where you live, you may have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, to ask for a human review of automated decisions, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@findingeve.app. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app before they take effect.
9. Contact Us
